National Leadership Development Program

Women or gender diverse individuals in the final year of their apprenticeship or who are journeypersons may apply. We recognize the distinct barriers faced by women and gender-diverse people from multiple marginalized backgrounds in accessing this type of training.

Those from diverse backgrounds (e.g., who are newcomers, identify as 2SLGBTQ+, have a disability, or who are Black, Indigenous, or a person of colour) are especially encouraged to apply.

All applications are due JUNE 30, 2022

Application Form

The first cohort will start in September 2022 and will go until December 2022. There are five modules:

  • Leadership
  • Communication
  • Teamwork/Confliction Resolution
  • Supervisory Skills
  • Mental Health and Well-Being

Every participant who completes the mandatory requirements will receive a CAF-FCA Certificate of Completion. Mandatory requirements include:

  • Participates in virtual discussions
  • Writes and posts in a discussion group
  • Writes journal entries reflecting upon what they have learned
  • Produces a self-reflection piece focused on leadership (essay, Power Point, or video, etc.)

Applications will be reviewed by the Office to Advance Women Apprentices. Those accepted into the program will be emailed by July 30th, 2022. During the pilot phase of the program, we are hoping to accept 13 applicants (one from each province and territory). Those not accepted into the pilot cohort may be put on a waitlist and may be considered to participate in future cohorts.
